Unnerving Symmetry

Unnerving symmetry
An unnerving symmetry.

I captured this image while wandering through the small streets of eastern Kyoto 京都 not far from Kiyomizu, one of the more famous temples in the area. These portholes open onto the lobby of a small apartment block. For some strange reason they made me think of spider eyes, though of course there are four too many. Even so, I find this photograph mildly unnerving, like something isn’t quite right about it.
