Saigon (Vietnamese: Sài Gòn) is the former name of Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam. It is still used in common speech and in business names all around the city. For my purposes, Saigon refers mainly to modern-day District 1, which encompasses the downtown core of colonial Saigon.
