Ruìfāng 瑞芳 is the gateway to Jiǔfèn 九份, Jīnguāshí 金瓜石, and Shuǐnǎndòng 水湳洞, a trio of mining towns strung along the mountains of the northern coast like dark pearls. The main town next to the train station offers the usual small town Taiwan fare but the real draw is the mountains beyond.
